The absence of a screw mechanism allows Ear clips to be useful on extremely small hoses. The tamper proof nature of the fitting make this suitable for certain applications where there may be a risk associated with any interference to the fitting. They are widely used for many critical applications to hold against pressure, vibration and shrinkage due to variation in temperature or ageing.
